Fertilome Over-The-Top II Grass Killer 8 oz Sethoxydim: 18.0% Systemic herbicide kills grassy weeds without injuring desirable plants Controls Bermudagrass, Crabgrass, Foxtails, Quackgrass And Other Weedy Grasses 8 Oz Makes 8 Gallons Of Spray Spray over the top of desirable plants for grassy weed control This product is a selective systemic grass killer that eliminates existing weedy grasses growing in and around plant beds, landscapes, and individual shrubs and trees. It can be used through a hose-end sprayer or through a tank-type sprayer. This product can also be used around listed fruit and vegetable areas with a tank-type sprayer. Controls: This product kills most annual and hard-to-kill perennial grasses up to 1 foot high including the examples listed below in one (or two) application(s). Younger, actively growing seedling weeds are more easily killed than older, mature, well-established grassy weeds which may require a repeat application for control. Adding oil concentrate (Spreader Sticker) may help control of grassy weeds. Controls most weedy grasses including Barnyardgrass, Bermudagrass, Broadleaf Signalgrass, Crabgrass - (Large, Smooth), Fall Panicum, Foxtails (Giant, Green, Yellow), Goosegrass, Johnsongrass (Seedling, Rhizome), Junglerice, Lovegrass, Orchardgrass (Seedling), Quackgrass, Tall Fescue (Seedling), Texas Panicum, Shattercane/Wildcane, Wild Proso Millet, Wirestem Muhly, Witchgrass, and Wooly Cupgrass. This product does not control sedges (including Nutsedge or Nutgrass), annual bluegrass, or broadleaf weeds. Red Fescue, Chewings Fescue, Hard Fescue, and Dichondra Turfs are also tolerant. When to apply: Apply any time grassy weeds are actively growing not exceeding the minimum of days from application to harvest when used on vegetables and fruits. Warm sunny weather will accelerate systemic movement from leaves and stems down to the roots to give complete kill. Do not mow or cut off tops of weeds before spraying. Do not apply if rainfall is expected within one hour following application. Growth of treated grasses stops soon after application. Grassy weeds turn yellow and die within one to three weeks depending on the grass species, stage of growth and weather conditions. Cool weather, drought and heat stress slows activity. Application with hose-end sprayer: When no water dilution/premixing needed: Determine how much area is to be treated in square feet. Pour 1 oz of product and 1 oz of oil concentrate in the hose-end sprayer bottle for each 1,800 square feet to be treated. Set the sprayer dial to apply as close to 1 oz (2 tablespoons) per gallon as possible. After application, wash the sprayer with a diluted soap solution and rinse according to the sprayer instructions. When Water dilution/premixing needed: Some hose-end applicators recommend that liquid products be premixed with water before pouring into the sprayer bottle. Read the hose-end sprayer instructions for making treatments at 1 fluid ounce per 1,800 square feet. Clean the sprayer after use according to the sprayer instructions. Application with tank sprayer: Mix 1 oz (2 tablespoons) of product plus 1 oz (2 tablespoons) of oil concentrate per 1 gallon of water. Spray to just wet the unwanted weedy grasses. One gallon of spray will treat 1,800 square feet of area. Wash sprayer by flushing soapy water and then clean water through the sprayer. To prevent leaf burn of desirable plants, do not use oil concentrate when comfort index (temperature ˚F + humidity) exceeds 150. For use on flowers, bedding plants, evergreens, shrubs, trees and ornamental groundcovers: This product may be applied “over-the-top” of desirable plants infested by weedy grasses or as a directed spray to weedy grasses when label directions are followed. Most ornamental species tested have been found tolerant of this product; however, use with caution around the following plants as they may damage if foliage is contacted by the spray: azaleas (var. snow), Japanese privet, potentilla, snow-in summer, red oak, white oak, and ornamental grasses. This product may also be used on the following nonbearing food plants: avocados, dates, figs, olives, plums, pomegranates, and prunes. Do not apply within 1 year of harvest. The label lists a very large chart that lists the tolerant plants. Please email us with the specific plants you want to spray over and we will let you know if they are listed or not. For use on fruit and vegetable areas: Applications on and around tolerant vegetables and fruit should be applied with only a tank-type sprayer. A second application may be made to all listed vegetables and fruits except peanut and strawberry. This product may be used on the fruits and vegetables listed in the fruit and vegetable Table. (Again, this label is quite extensive. Please email us with your specific crops and we will let you know if it is listed and what the minimum time from spray to harvest is.) Do not apply on or around any fruit and vegetable not listed on this label, especially sweet corn. Not for use on blueberry, cranberries, or lentils in the state of California. Important: For spot treating grassy weeds near lawns and around any sensitive plants, a tank type sprayer is recommended. Spray carefully to avoid spray or drift contact with desirable plants. If drift occurs, wash off foliage immediately with water. Caution: This product is toxic to aquatic organisms. Do not apply directly to water or to areas where surface water is present.
